With all of the various types of shampoos available in the pet stores today, I understand how confusing it could be. To make things simple, I'll tell you that the typical all-purpose shampoo is okay for most breeds. However, there are times when you need something beyond that typical shampoo. Here's some specialty shampoo types to consider:
1) Hypo-allergenic shampoos: Just like humans, some dogs can have sensitive eyes or skin.
2) Extra conditioning shampoos: Great for dogs that have a long coat.
3) Medicated shampoo: Beyond sensitivities, you dog can have allergies or rashes. If this is the case, you can use this specialty shampoo to sooth the irritations that your dog may have.
4) Colore based shampoos: There are certain shampoos that are made for different dog coat colors. These shampoos can help accentuate the beauty of your dogs coat.
5) Tearless shampoos: Use this type if your dog has sensitive eyes.
6) Anti-flea shampoo: Shampoos containing limonene or pyrethrin can help repel fleas. If you're looking for something with natural ingredients, neem oil can be helpful.
7) Wire-coated shampoos: wire-coated dog breeds have special shampoos as well. You can use this type to preserve your dog's coat texture.
