The Adventures of Dog Digging
Do you remember when you were in elementary school and played in the sandbox? Did you ever dig a hole or a mountain of sand? It was fun wasn't it? Well that's what your dog may think as well. What's fun for your dog could be headaches for you.
So should you let your dog dig in your neighbors yard instead? Of course not. That's what my old neighbor did and I'm sure you wouldn't want to mess with a neighbor like me:)
So while your dog is in the yard, watch him and take care of him. Let your dog enjoy his time in the yard. If there is a spot where you don't mind him digging, let your dog know. Having a small digging spot is a lot better than having your yard be the dog digging ground. Just think about that little spot like that elementary school sandbox you used to play with.
Handling Your Dog's Love for Garbage
Are you having problems with your dog getting into the garbage? Why not consider locking the lid? If you don't want to do that, do whatever you can so that your dog doesn't have access to your garbage can.
Avoidance can work for your quite well instead of trying to fix the action at the time. Imagine that you don't do anything that I've mentioned. Then you find your dog chewing on the garbage. What will be your first reaction? How will you deal with this situation? Whatever you do, most likely you'll try to correct the situation. This is almost like telling a kid not to put his hand into the candy jar. What will a kid do once you're not around?
